9 The Exotic Island That Gives You Relax From Noise
Are you tired of seeing the same old tropical island with exotic destination recommendations many times? There are thousands of islands around the world so there are so many that are never mentioned in the travel articles. Let's get straight and see some of the best and accessible secret island destinations.
1. WESTMAN ISLAND, ICELAND
The Westman Islands are a group of 14 landlands off the south coast of Iceland, and they boast more puffins than humans! There are only about 4000 permanent residents on these islands, but tourists can stay in small cabins and local inns to experience the fabulous nightlife on the deserted islands. They feel very secluded but can be reached via a simple 40-minute ferry ride from the mainland.
2. CENTER SAN BLAS, PANAMA
Close your eyes and grab a perfect desert island. Well, the San Blas Islands in Panama are pretty much the real life version! Floating off the coast of the Caribbean northwest of Panama, San Blas is a collection of 365 stunning white sand islands, mostly inhabited by authentic Kuna Indians. These islands may seem distant, but are actually within easy reach of Panama City and the locals are very friendly towards tourists who want to experience some of the island's culture.
3. ISLE AU HAUT, MAINE, USA
Located 17 miles off Maine's rocky coast in Penobscot Bay, half the island is protected as part of Acadia National Park. Thanks to its remote location, Isle au Haut is a great place to soak in the sluggish city life of Maine. Even in high season when much of Maine's coastal area is full of tourists, Isle au Haut is deeply touched. A small number of visitors (only about 7,000 per year) can camp overnight at Duck Harbor or come on a day trip on a beautiful lighthouse cruise around the bay. Here you can catch lobsters with local fishermen, sea kayaks, and walk along the 18 miles of hiking trails.
4. TOGEAN ISLANDS, INDONESIA
The Togean Islands is basically an archipelago of 7000 amazing islands off the coast of Sulawesi in Indonesia. It takes a little time to get there, but your experience once you're at Togeans will more than just make up for it. From filling your days with hammocks to sailing from a small island to a small island in a wooden canoe, you'll never want to go back to real life!
5. ISLETAS DE GRANADA, NICARAGUA
Visiting Isletas de Granada on Lake Nicaragua is absolute for anyone who dreams of experiencing true peace and tranquility. Only a fifteen-minute boat ride from the main Granada port, this small island group forms a local ecosystem and is very quiet so you'll never want to be anywhere else. Isletas is also the best place to catch a glimpse of Volcano Mombacho.
6. OLKHON ISLAND, SIBERIA
One of the best islands you've never heard of Olkhon Island. Located in Siberia off the west coast of Lake Baikal, the island can be reached by ferry and is home to the mysterious Buykat people, shamanic followers and deep spiritual figures. You can experience the life of the island of Siberia by staying in the main village, Khuzir, and a number of day tours are offered to give you as much experience as possible on the island.
7. SUMMER ISLES, SCOTLAND
Uninhabited except the main island of Tanera Mor, you will not find a crowd of people who feel the excitement on the shores of the Summer Islands and the pristine beaches. Even Tanera Mor does not have roads and there is only accommodation for 35 people at once. Archipelago attractions though in addition to the coastline are wildlife and abundant scenery that attracts the attention of photographers, painters and poets.
8. TIWI ISLAND, AUSTRALIA
Located north of Darwin, the Tiwi Islands are rich in Aboriginal culture and stunning rainforests. Visitors can stay in one of the many fishing lodges and can also enjoy the exciting deep sea fishing adventure. Plan ahead, as you can only visit the Tiwi Islands if you have arranged a tour with an Aboriginal guide.
9. ISLAND YAKUSHIMA, JAPAN
If the jungle bath is yours, then you do not have to look any further than the wonders of Yakushima Island. The island is home to UNESCO protected cedar forests and some of the most amazing water boats you will ever see. Easily reached by ferry from Kagoshima, you can enjoy the red and rare monkey sites while climbing the Seibu road.
I decided not to think about the trip bucket list because there are too many places to visit if I can. I am very tempted by these places. Please tell us about the lesser-known islands you have visited.
